Maikw. Noomi niaam Paiutsi Ampákhai.
Hello. We are the Ampákhai Project.
Funded by the Cedar Band of Paiutes, the Ampákhai Project began in late 2016 when Jeremy Garcia Standing Soldier began recording tribal elder Eleanor Tom in an effort to learn the language. Their efforts quickly snowballed as students from the local university as well as other tribal members began to attend their language sessions.
Today the Ampákhai Project seeks to preserve and eventually teach the Southern Paiute language to all those who wish to learn it. Currently we have this dictionary and are working on further materials.
